ICT Commision
Technological innovations and the pressure of global competition have changed the ways organizations operate and meet their client’s needs. The characteristics of ICT generally play an important role in national growth and development thus requiring strategic coordination for any country to realize the benefits of ICT growth. In the current ICT driven economies, it is important for all technology driven sectors to cop up with dynamics of ICT in the country and around the world. In realizing the developments in the ICT and a need to have an attractive ICT environment to compete in the global technology driven economy, the Government established the ICT Commiss...ion (ICTC).
The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Commission is established by the Presidential Decree Government Notice (GN) No. 532 published in the Government Gazette No. 47 Vol. 96 dated 20 th November, 2015. Genesis of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Commission is the National ICT Policy 2003 approved by the Government in March 2003 that directed to establish a body in the institutional framework of the sector to coordinate and facilitate policy implementation in the country.
The current National ICT Policy approved by the Government in May 2016 also mandates the ICT Commission a role of coordinating and facilitating implementation of national ICT initiatives countrywide. This will be done through promoting the ICT sector, recognizing and build capacity and skills of ICT Professionals, providing foresight and trends in ICT through research in collaboration with ICT stakeholders
and, foster strategic investment in ICT.
TAIC
The Tanzania Annual ICT Conference (TAIC) is one of the largest international gathering of
ICT industry players in Tanzania that offers a unique platform for capacity building, policy
dialogues, business investors networking, professional discussion, experience and knowledge
sharing on the global ICT issues, business opportunities, knowledge and skills needs to cope
with the dynamic digital ecosystem. The Conference also serves as a platform for participants to
discuss enabling environment for ICT growth towards socio-econo...mic development in Tanzania.
The 5 th TAIC 2019 succeeds two TAICs and two Annual ICT Professionals Conferences
(AIPC) that the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Commission has been
organizing since 2017 bringing together more than 800 ICT stakeholders from both Government
and Private Sector, Small Medium Enterprises, Academia, researchers, startups, ICT
Entrepreneurs and the business industry. organized by the Tanzania ICT Commission.
The conference discussions focus on a wide range of topics emphasizing on the role of ICT in
social-economic development and the role of ICT as an important tool for attainment of
Tanzania Development Vision and Sustainable Development Goals. The conference will be
featured with exhibitions from various ICT stakeholders showcasing their products, services
and innovations.
